Dental implant therapy for the edentulous patient is a treatment modality with the potential of significantly improving the quality of our patient’s lives. However, when complications occur, the outcome for the patient and surgical-restorative team can be frustrating, difficult to manage and costly for all involved. Dr. Aldo Leopardi’s objective for this presentation is to discuss the clinical realities and challenges of restoration of the edentulous patient with implant retained and supported prostheses.
Objectives:
1. Have an improved understanding of dental implant complications as reported in the literature.
2. Update on treatment planning of the edentulous patient for fixed and removable restorations.
3. Understand the role material selection and prosthetic design plays in minimizing complications.
